ADOPT AN OLIVE TREE

Adopt an olive tree is a permanent crowdfunding project of our farm. Collective financing from the bottom up is a great way to help direct farmers and olive growing. Indeed, it is the new frontier of consumer awareness to support agriculture, in our case, micro-olive growing.

Our crowdfunding project on Indiegogo in 2017

By micro-olive growing or micro-olive growers we mean olive farmers, just like us at Oliveta della Torre, who have limited plots of land (2 – 5 hectares) and for whom the oil they produce generates very small margins. In any case not enough to invest in modernising their equipment and in new growing techniques. This discourages more and more people from abandoning their olive groves. Unfortunately, the phenomenon is much more serious than people think.

This is a pity because Tuscan extra virgin olive oil, which already contributes only 3% to national olive oil production, is destined to decline further. Not to mention the fact that, famous all over the world, Tuscan oil will also be increasingly subject to commercial frauds. Adopting an olive tree is a way to help farmers from bottom up, but also to preserve intact a territory and a landscape that the whole world envies us!

Adopt a Tuscan olive tree: here’s how the project works.

Adopting a Tuscan olive tree for one year costs 60 euros. The amount will be used to nurture and maintain the tree through cultivation practices such as pruning, harrowing and fertilising. Not only that. The cost includes the issuing and sending of a personal photo-certificate with the name chosen for the adoptive tree. We will also attach a handmade nameplate to the tree, which will remain affixed forever, even for one-off adoptions. The following year you can renew the certificate, or choose to adopt a second plant, and so on. Those who renew their adoption for at least five years, or who adopt five olive trees in the same year, will be presented with 3 litres of oil with a special personalised and geolocalised label.

Some people dedicate an olive tree to their partner, some baptize it with the name of their newborn child. There are also those who dedicate an olive tree to a particularly beautiful and significant experience in their lives. Finally, there are those who decide to offer an original, non-commercial gift for Christmas. Here some of the olive trees recently adopted.

So, if you want to make a small contribution to the production of good, healthy and safe food, adopt an olive tree and a small piece of Tuscany. Contact us for further details.
